Lenten Sonnet | March 11, 2017
by Andrew Peterson
Danbury, Connecticut
Thirteen degrees outside, snow on the ground.
The sun, however, is bright, so I walk
Along the road, beside old walls of round
Granite stones, and if those stack walls could talk
They’d shout the praise that I forget to pray,
Praise for being pulled out of the dark death
Of burial into the shining day
Of resurrection, to feel the wind’s breath,
To catch snow, to glisten in rain, to warm
In the summer sun while green ivy creeps
Like pulsing veins along the stony form.
Each smooth stone knows its place, and always keeps
Its brothers, sisters close, holding them all
Together. Give praise. Someone built this wall.

Wonderful poem. I am going to have to check out the book!
Peace, LaMon
Beautiful and perfect on this dreary day.
