Really well done... such a great perspective, and heavy calling, that really applies to us all now in many ways. Go out and preach the Gospel. Spread truth. Christ's mantle has fallen to us. A greater than Elijah has come.
The call can be severe. The acquiescence can be dangerous. Could you write another verse? The ploughman whose calling was to pour water on Elijah's hands should also remember the drought-ending rain.
Thanks for reading, Jerry. It was intended as an imaginative perspective on what might have gone through Elisha's mind as Elijah made his way towards him in the field. It's definitely not expositional, so I don't think I'll add more to it, but I appreciate your comments about these two curious prophets. The stories of the both of them are astounding/convicting/confusing depending on the day I read them. Thanks again for taking the time to interact with this piece!
One of my faves of yours! Powerful imagery.

Finally got a chance to read this poem over coffee this morning. I love your writing, Anna.

I love your poem. Thanks for the perspective you showed. I did not mean to criticize, but to interact.
