Rain. I rarely comment on the wonderful poetry in Rabbit Room but your piece gives me the excuse to enjoy the experience and just soak in delight. It reads like a moving still life and leaves me wanting more; like the animals, rushing, hiding, and burrowing playfully in the mayhem, my heart yearns to frump onto a branch and wait for my next chance to stand by a window.
This is a lovely and quiet sonnet, replete with the promise of more. I was so much in the moment I didn’t initially notice that it rhymes. Thank you for sharing it with us.
After reading you comment, I had to go back and see for myself whether it rhymed. I've never read a poem in which rhyming was so natural that it became subtle.
“Rain. An excuse to stand at the window
And listen, watch, wait…”
I love that.
I felt the calmness of waiting. The beauty of the rain and the birds. Thank you.

Thanks so much, you made my day!
