The Lord's Prayer
Father in heaven above, may thy name
Be hallowed, praised by every human tongue.
Let thy perfect will be willingly done
Here on the earth and in heaven the same.
Give us on this day this day’s bread, we pray,
And grant to us, by thy mercy so wide,
Forgiveness: for bold sins and sins we hide,
Things we’ve done and left undone, yesterday,
Today, and tomorrow--as we forgive
Those friends, neighbors, and enemies, whose sin
Has hurt us, betrayed us, time and again.
Widen our mercy. And grant us to live
In fair, pure countries, far from tempter’s snare.
From evil keep us in thy tender care.

This is achingly beautiful! At once familiar– being The Lord's Prayer– but also new and reflective. I think it would be wonderful set to music.
Wonderful. When he was in a Russian WWII/Cold War era prison, Fr. Walter Ciszek would spend hours praying the Our Father, exploring its depths, and he noted how it was an endless starting point for prayer. I love this act of using the Lord's Prayer as a "home base" from which we begin, and to which we return, as we express to God our need.
