I enjoyed the English version of the poem, pero me encanta el lenguaje en la versión español! Canta de una manera distinta. Y me pregunto ¿cuál venía primero, y cuál es la traducción? Does poetry always come to you in the same language first, or do you get inspiration in both languages?
¡Gracias, Rachel! Love your question. Originalmente, escribí este poema en inglés y lo traduje exclusivamente para the Rabbit Room. If you read my collection, you'll find this poem is only included in its English version, but now that I translated it for RR I am beating myself up about it, because I have to admit I almost like it more in español. Casi siempre escribo en inglés, porque la mayoría de mis lectores son americanos. Pero, personas como tú me motivan a escribir más en español también!
My sons were begging me yesterday to make sure the mangos were really ready before I cut into them. One was almost there and one was perfection! There is nothing as good as a truly ripe mango. Beautiful words, friend.
TRULY. Mango season is upon us. A fresh, ripe mango is a blessing. I love that they wanted to make sure the mango was as good as it could be before cutting it open—they know what they're doing!

"Disfrutar" may be my all-time favorite Spanish verb.
Now that I think about it, it does roll off the tongue nicely. The "s" and the "r"'s in each syllable make it smooth!
Beautiful imagery once again!
I’m standing there with you, begging the mangoes to be ripe!
All I want right now is a fresh mango!

I liked the personal, conversational tone of this. Thank you.
Thank you for reading, Marie. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
So stunning. Thank you Rosa!
Thank you, Deborah! <3
I’m always here for a Rosa poem!! 🌺🥭
I can tell this was written by someone who, like me, has a good respect and appreciation for mangos😊🥭
