How wild! I have a New Year's resolution to memorize a poem for each month and this is the one I chose for January. I am a January 10th baby, and you just posted my poem of the month on my birthday today -- I feel seen and loved by God. Malcolm is a gifted poet and this has been a deep, restorative reflection to start off the year.
Bethany, believe it or not the string of Jan 10th coincidences only deepens. This poem was posted by someone who shares your birthday today: me. Glad it landed well with you :)
I had the privilege of meeting Malcolm Guite in December because I sang in the Getty’s “Sing! An Irish Christmas” choir, and I will remember it forever. I adore his poetry, and his accent is phenomenal. I had not heard this poem before, though, but it is going in my list of favorites.

“And let it be for good”
Staying in the moment is the hardest for me, especially when pressure screams for me to escape.
Staying with Jesus, holding His hand, and breathing. Knowing what’s coming is for my good.
His voice, His strength, His heartbeat says “take heart” for my good and His glory
I love this!
Beautiful!
That was what I didn’t know I needed.

Thank you for this. I dabble in poetry and music and love it when songs arise. I shared it with my brother who is a singer and working on a musical.
Beautiful poem! As a poet and occasional songwriter, this was encouraging
I’m with your teens, Rachel. I keep wanting to hear it again. Such loveliness!
